ravesafe

Projects occur in many locations throughout the world and usually consist of a group of like-minded individuals getting together to develop harm minimisation programs for event organisers, nightclub owners and the punters themselves.

RaveSafe is an ideology.
We are not an organisation. On a worldwide scale,
RaveSafe is not controlled by any one agency.
RaveSafe is a set of beliefs rather than a set of rules.

Support for RaveSafe programs comes from a wide variety of individuals and agencies however all RaveSafe programs rely strongly on a team of committed volunteers that are prepared to work collaboratively on the primary aim of the group – to identify, develop and deliver good quality harm reduction information.

RaveSafe Peer Helpers

You might see RaveSafe teams at music events. We are a group of trained volunteers led by a team leader . We attend events to provide non-judgemental information and assistance where necessary. Our interest is in your safety and wellbeing.

Our team members
will always

  • help you without passing judgement on you
  • listen to you and talk to you about alcohol or drug use
  • keep confidential any information you give them
  • spend time with you if you are having a bad trip or have had too much to drink

Our team members
will sometimes

  • refer you to ambulance services. If this happens it’s because you need it! Queensland police do not listen to ambulance radios for overdoses and they do not attend overdoses unless called
  • give you free drinking water. This depends on regulations and/or sponsorships that are in place at events
  • give you something to eat – but don’t just turn up to get free food!
  • have ear plugs available

Our team members
won’t

  • condone use of illegal drugs
  • test pills for you
  • report personal details of incidents to authorities
